 Frequently Asked Questions

Here are our responses to questions we receive most often from others like you.

Teopancalli

  • Teopancalli means mystical house or church in the Náhuatl indigenous language of Mexico.

  • A wide variety of people from different religious backgrounds and traditions are drawn to spiritual journeys using Sacred Plant Teachers. It’s for those who are ready to heal and connect with their inner truths. It’s for those who wants to open their mind, heart and soul to new possibilities and for those who want to have primary religious experiences.

  • Spiritual and religious practices have many blessings. Through personal revelations and teachings from our Sacred Plant Teacher we become alive. Opening up to wonder, joy, love, compassion, happiness, gratitude and countless other gifts.

  • While in mystical states of consciousness, worshipers are vulnerable. Therefore, Teopancalli insists that safety protocols be properly observed, including preparation and integration procedures. We abide by the rules of conduct from the Guild of Guides and tripsafe.org Safety Guidelines for Hallucinogens.

  • Churches and worship are legally protected. Our sacramental use of mushrooms is protected by the United States Constitution and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), just as the sacraments and practices of other religions are protected.

These legal protections only extend to safe, religious use of psilocybin mushrooms, not to non-religious use, even if that use is primarily for good things, like healing, betterment, enlightenment, etc. In other words, without safety and religion, there are no legal protections. This legal framework actually helps Teopancalli build the community we desire: safe and sincere worshipers of the Divine. We seek individuals who sincerely devote themselves to becoming better people by building connection with self, others, and the Divine.

  • We will never ask for you to do something against your will. Teopancalli is a safe space for transformation and healing. Our intent is to build a community of like-minded individuals who offer and support each other. We ask that you ingest a microdose of " Teonanácatl” or Flesh of the Gods as a symbolic gesture to commune with the Divine. But if you don’t want to we’re fine with that too.

  • The Divine must be encountered and experienced, to be comprehended. The words and descriptions of others won’t get us there.

  • Our mission is to nourish the transformation and evolution of human beings who are seeking a deeper spiritual connection with Mother Earth, the cosmos, our ancestors, each other, the world around them and the Divine.

  • We welcome everyone from all races and spiritual and religious traditions. We also recognize that frequently, Sacred Plant Medicine ceremonies are inaccessible for many BIPOC due to price. For that reason we have set up a donation fund because cost should not be a barrier to healing. We’ve also set up a process for donation based ceremonies.

But in general we ask that you be open and have a clear intention of what you want out of your spiritual journey. If your health permits, we ask that you fast the day of the ceremony. We also ask that you abstain from meat, sex, alcohol and drugs for at least 5 days prior to your ceremony.

  • Sacred Plant Teacher ceremonies are powerful experiences that keep unfolding into the following days and weeks, as the experience begins to inform one’s day-to-day life. Our goal is to create a community of like-minded individuals to share and support each other on your spiritual journeys.

  • Most ceremonies, in time, last about 4-6 hours. But its blessings, visions and revelations have been reported to last a lifetime.

  • Becoming a member only requires a sincere adherence to our Statement of Beliefs and a sincere effort to respect yourself, others, our Sacred Sacrament and the Divine.

  • The first step is to sincerely resonate with our Statement of Beliefs and to fill out the Membership form. We will review it and contact you. At that time, we will provide you with a calendar of upcoming ceremonies.

Psilocybin Mushrooms

  • The psilocybin sacrament is ancient and pervasive across many cultures. Humans have long known that psilocybin mushrooms can occasion mystical states of consciousness. There, we encounter the Divine and receive guidance and healing. This is pure religion.

  • Psilocybin mushrooms are a sacred sacrament. We believe they are given to us as a blessing from the Divine, so that we can connect with self, others, and the Divine. Safety is paramount, including a properly-trained and vetted guide.
